Dr. Neel here. Thinking about getting a new pet? It's important to know what pitfalls to avoid when you're working with shelters or a breeder. Not asking the right questions can lead to a lot of expense and heartbreak if you end up with a pet that hasn't had a proper health screening. In my free newsletter later this week, I'll teach you what questions to ask to limit your risk of a bad experience. If you haven't already, sign up here to ensure you'll get the free email later this week: https://lnkd.in/gdkZ7GxQ

One of the great advantages of Together Housing Group is our flexible approach to working. Despite the rhetoric about needing to "get people back to the office", different people, with different personal needs, do different jobs differently from different places,. especially when each day is different. The best policies are flexible. It's not about lazy home working, or rolling in late. Some days out offices are crammed by 7.30am. Other days they stand almost empty. Some work tasks take all evening, some are done by 4pm. Some personal tasks take an hour or so out of a day, some can be fit in an evening because I don't have to commute for 4 hours of that day. This is a great example from another employer and a challenge to ask why more places don't take a more flexible approach.

Legacy Health, managing 6 hospitals and over 70 clinics in Northern Oregon/Southern Washington, ordered 250 NaloxKit carry pouches for their security teams. Due to increasing need in and around their buildings, they determined that officers needed to carry 2 doses of naloxone to respond to this ongoing crisis.Luke Heckathorn, Director of Safety & Security Services told us:"With today’s Fentanyl epidemic, having Naloxone close is essential and can mean the difference between life and death. Most often one dose is not enough. The NaloxKit Pouch allows each of my team members to carry two doses where most other pouches only allow one. This gives them another opportunity to help someone in our communities."Well done Legacy Health in taking this proactive stance to protect your patients, staff and communities. For information on storage and access solutions for naloxone, visit NaloxKit.com. #NaloxoneAccess #HarmReduction #OpioidCrisis #StopOpioidOverdose

This week marks National Poison Prevention Week, a crucial observance dedicated to raising awareness about the risks of poisonings and the importance of preventive measures to protect the health and safety of our communities, especially the most vulnerable. In the realm of healthcare and workers' compensation, understanding and mitigating poisoning risks are paramount. Whether it's household chemicals, prescription medications, or industrial substances, the potential for accidental poisoning is a significant concern that requires our collective vigilance. Here are a few steps we can all take to contribute to poison prevention:• Educate Yourself and Others: Stay informed about the common sources of poison and ensure that this knowledge is shared with coworkers, family, and friends.• Safe Storage Solutions: Properly store medications, chemicals, and other hazardous substances out of reach of children and vulnerable adults.• Emergency Preparedness: Familiarize yourself with the signs of poisoning and have the Poison Help Line (1-800-222-1222) readily available.• Advocate for Safety: Promote poison prevention through community programs, workplace training, and policy advocacy.I encourage everyone all to use this week to reinforce our commitment to creating safer environments in our homes, workplaces, and communities. Your awareness and proactive measures can make a life-saving difference.#NationalPoisonPreventionWeek #SafetyFirst #HealthcareSafety #PublicHealth #ViscardiInsights

#NationalCrimeVictimsRightsWeek2024Every individual has the ability to contribute to the support of crime survivors in Williams County. Should a survivor choose to share their experience with you, remember that it’s often challenging to disclose such personal and intimate details. You don’t need to have all the answers, but offering a supportive and encouraging response can profoundly aid the survivor’s journey toward healing. The first step is to aid survivors in assessing their personal safety. This might involve reaching out to emergency services if needed. It’s essential to empower survivors to establish their own safety plan and recognize that they are the experts in their own circ*mstances. Pressuring them to report or seek additional emergency services against their wishes could result in unintended harm.If the survivor wishes to report the incident or seek medical attention from emergency services, ensure you have those contacts readily available. Encourage them by emphasizing that they can have a dedicated advocate with them at every stage. #NCVRW2024 #YouAreNotAlone #SarahsFriendsSupport #HopeAndHealing #CrimePrevention #CommunityStrength
